THE BEST DAY TO CELEBRATE MEXICO
Let me tell you a little bit of Mexico story and how it start as an independence country. Did you know that Mexico was know as New Spain?
Mexico was oppressed and only Spaniards were allowed to hold political posts. Because of all this situation the priest Miguel Hidalgo at Dolores Hidalgo city, had enough. He started to rang his bell, demanding to end the Spanish rule, in September 16th of 1810 delivering a speech. These event is known as el Grito de Dolores. As a consequence a brutal Mexican war started that lasts over a decade.
On August 24, 1821, Spain officially recognized Mexico as an independent country.
Yes, WE DID IT!!! Priest Hidalgo is nowadays known as Father of the Independence. Each year we celebrate this memorial day on September 16th. The celebration includes fireworks, typical and delicious Mexican dishes, just to mention a few of them: pozole, mole, chile en nogada. All our streets are dressed with many colors, mainly green, white and red, the colors of our beautiful flag.
VIVA MEXICO!
On this day the president of Mexico since 200 years rang the antique bell that Father Hidalgo used, and he start shouting over 500,000 people Viva and the names of our Mexican heroes some of them: Ignacio Allende, Vicente Guerrero, Josefa Ortiz, José María y Morelos, etc.) Ranging the bell, each name he shouts and the people shouts too at the end of each character or sentence, at the end he shout 3 times VIVA MEXICO!
As a Mexican I can tell you that this event it’s pretty colorful, energetic and very patriotic. Even if the government is not the best, (no worries, I’m not talking about this topic…) I’m very proud of being a Mexican, our culture, our food, such incredible and spectacular places, the warm and cheerful people for me are the BEST.
COZUMEL, THE BEST PLACE
Saying this I highly recommend to come to Cozumel in this date. If you want to watch some fireworks at the main square, ornaments that represents this dates, and a very relaxing island with few people. If you don’t like crowds and high seasons, these dates are very good for you to really enjoy it.
Also, the first days of September are very good for you to experience a yacht day. El Cielo, one if the most incredible and beautiful places for me in Mexico. El Cielo, Cozumel is a sandbar pretty close to the beach that is very calm and seams as a big swimming pool.
